Davidson's Orchard and Thanksgiving

We had a great thanksgiving with all the family (except my son who could not be there).

Davison's Orchard-Pumpkin Patch

This is a great family orientated place. It was cool but a beautiful sunny day. We rode a train to the pumkin patch and the kids picked out a pumkin. We looked at the animals-goats, rabbits, and chickens.

Interior Provincial Exhibition (IPE)

Armstrong Fair, IPE (Interior Provincial Exhibition)
We drove our motor home on the evening of Tue Sept 1 to Armstrong, about 20 miles and did dry camping across the street from the fair. I had always wanted to do this and we finally did. We spent 5 nights there. I really enjoyed being able to come and go to the MH whenever we wanted. Ches’s sister and brother-in-law joined us on Wed. and we checked out most of the exhibits and went to the rodeo in the evening. We ate most of our meals in the MH but enjoyed junk food like mini donuts and home made pie at the fair.

We enjoyed watching the horse events and the rodeo. Our favorite event was the mini chuck wagons, these are small chuck wagons pulled by 4 miniature horses and an adult sitting in the wagon driving. They race 2 wagons at a time and there were 10 different wagons. We watched the rodeo every night, but were a little disappointed that there were not that many professional riders in it. It was fun but a bit too long so we don’t plan to do that again next year.

Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad

This is a great family exhibit to see, it is especially interesting when they turn the lights down and make it night and you can see all the lights.

This is the biggest little European Railroad in Canada. 4000 square feet of family fun with more than 1300 houses and over 11000 hand painted little people. The Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad is Canada's largest Marklin lay-out, with more than 20 computer controlled trains running through very detailed landscaping with European style towns and houses. Come step into a WORLD CLASS miniature fantasy world!

As something completely different we now have a car system running on some roads and we are the only public display in North America with that feature. So come check it out - it is like magic!

If you would like a unique, air-conditioned stopover on your trip through Osoyoos, drop by the railroad and have a look. Caution: Train Buffs have been known to become slightly mesmerized by the volume of exquisite detail available to be seen!
