Atenas-Costa Rica

The trip started on Jan 10, 2011
The four of us flew from Vancouver to Dallas to Costa Rica, which took from 7 am to 8 pm. We were on a tour, so they met us at the airport and took us to the hotel in Atenas-to Colinas Del Sol. It was still warm at 70 F and the drive was about 30 minutes.

The hotel is basic but nice and clean and warm in the day time and cool at night.

the pool was nice, but too cool for my liking.

Crocodile River Tour-Costa Rica

We went on a bus tour to the Pacific ocean and went on a river tour.

The heavy rains in November caused a lot of flooding in Costa Rica with the river changing course and this attraction destroyed and they are in the process of rebuilding.

The boat driver stopped and fed a crocodile, this is dangerous and one bit him once.

This large crocodile is called Osama

We saw lots of different kinds of birds and monkeys

There is a farm on the other side of the river.

We went to a Hotel de Ville, which had very nice grounds

Braulio Carrillo Aerial Tram-Costa Rica

We took a bus tour to the rain forest, it was sunny and warm when we left and became rainy as we got closer to the rain forest. We donned rain poncho's and went on a walking tour with a guide who pointed out the different plants and told us about them

Next we boarded gondolas for a trip through the rain forest. I don't care for heights so did not care for that part, but we had a good guide who pointed out different plants, not animals but some birds.

The ferns were huge and the whole thing reminded me of Jurassic Park.

Leon Beach Pacific Costa Rica

We took a bus tour to the Pacific coast for a day at the beach.

We enjoyed spending a couple of hours relaxing on the beach,
listening to the sound of the waves and reading

We went to a nice restaurant for lunch.

After lunch we drove to another hotel to use the pool. There were 2 huge, beautiful pools. I enjoyed swimming in the pool, the ocean is nice to look at but I don't like swimming in it.

Zoo Ave-Costa Rica

I organized an extra tour for 20 of our group to go to Zoo Ave. It was an enjoyable outing.

I was disappointed that there were very few animals

Lots of nice birds
