Drive home

It was rainy part of the way going home, but we were glad the weather was good while we were doing outside activities. The kids watching movies on the new laptop and sleeping helped pass the time for the grandkids.

We had supper at Denny’s I Vernon and the trip was over. It was a great trip.

Tyrell Museum & Drumheller

Prehistoric fish

It rained at night and in the morning. We all piled in the van and headed off for Drummheller to see the dinosaurs. The Tyrell Museum is a huge building full of dinosaur bones put together and set up in natural scenarios. It is interesting and nicely organized museum. After a not that great lunch we went to a shop that sells geostones and fossils. We bought some interesting souvenirs.

Then we went to the gift shop where there is a big 86-foot cement dinosaur that you can climb up to the mouth and look out. The grandkids and I went up to the top (about 125 stairs) and the others took pictures of us.

Heritage Park, Calgary, Alberta

We went to Heritage Park and had a great time. We started with a free pancake breakfast.

We went on the train and watched the wagon go by.

Another cool kid

Everyone but Melissa and I went on the Ferris wheel and really enjoyed it. Then later Melissa wanted to go on the Ferris wheel so she tried it and loved and decided it was her favourite thing and kept wanting to go on it again.

We enjoyed some of the other rides too.

We enjoyed the paddle wheel boat ride.

Steve really enjoyed playing pool with an RCMP at the pool hall. My husband’s father used to play pool in this pool hall before it was moved to Heritage Park.

There are lots of buildings from mansions to soddies.

My mother lived in a soddie like this when she was young.

Then after looking at some of the buildings the kids went on the rides some more. There was an arcade and Steve won a nice large stuffed iguana for Melissa and grandpa won a large stuffed dragon for Kiana.

Calgary Zoo

The weather was sunny again and after an exciting breakfast (Melissa and I had breakfast at McDonalds I love egg McMuffin) and the rest ate at A & W. Then we were off to zoo for a pleasant day of looking at the animals.

We walked through the section with the dinosaurs. Of course one of the favourite parts for the kids was the gift shop.

Taking a rest

This elephant is little too big for my collection

We stopped at a dollar store and Kyle thought it was so wonderful all the things you could get for a dollar, he bought lots of things with his own money. Lisa and Steve bought a new lap top computer (good price and no PST). We had a great dinner at Red Lobster and Kyle and Kiana are so sophisticated that they had escargot.

Some fun and relaxation after the zoo
