It was sunny and we took a great varieties of transportation-cable car, train, 2 planes, greyhound type bus, and taxi. We were up bright and early and had a quick breakfast at the hotel and caught cable car to train station. We took train to Schiphol airport and rushed to get our bags checked and through security. We left at 9:45 am and although this was a 1 hour 15 minute flight because of time change we arrived at Heathrow at 10 am.
Then we went through security again and had a 4 hour wait for the flight to Leeds-Bradford, a 1 hour flight. When we arrived we found out that my suitcase was missing. After completing forms they gave us information and a small bag with some toiletries and a cheap T-shirt. We went outside to catch a bus to York and I saw a bus just leaving with York on the side and flagged him down and he pulled over so we could get on. The bus was large and beautiful like a greyhound bus and there were only 2 other people on board.
The ride from Leeds to York was beautiful past well kept farms and large mansions on large lots or acreages, this seemed like the best county we had seen. It is amazing how these big buses manage to get around the mirrors almost touch the hedges on the side of the road and some times they have to stop to let traffic by on the other side of the road.
We took a taxi to St. Mary’s 23 B & B. This is quite a nice B & B with a large room, even a bathtub, of course you have to go up several flights of stairs. I phoned about our luggage and was told they had found it but would have to phone later to arrange getting it. When I phoned later I was told that was a mistake they hadn’t found my luggage, try again tomorrow. It was still sunny and we walked around the town and used internet at a Evil Eye Lounge. The whole town is beautiful with brick historic buildings with a wide variety of shops, no franchise stores, except Marks & Spensers. I loved just window shopping past the shops. We had supper in a pub and settled in for the night.
