Royal Yatch Britania

We enjoyed touring the yacht using an audio guide with lots of interesting information. This vessel took the royal family for tours for 40 years and over 900 voyages and was retired in 1997. Queen Elizabeth said, “This is the only place I can truly relax.” The queen liked it quiet so the crew wore sneakers and used hand signals. The tour starts with a tour of the captains and officer’s quarters and the bridge. Later we toured the areas that the royals used.
There is a lounge on the Veranda deck, which was the Queen’s favourite

There was a boat for the royals to use

There is an infirmary, the ship was organized to be a hospital ship if needed but was never used for that. The queen has her own physician

The royals have their own entrance and exit for the yacht

Seaman's quarters

Prince Phillip bedroom

The stuffed animal called wombat on the fan was used for games and hidden in different places on the ship

Prince Charles and Princess Dianna’s bedroom was the only one that had a double bed (seemed very small beds)

It was fascinating to see Queen Elizabeth, (the sheets were from her mother and cost about 1000 pounds and specially fitted)

The pantries have silver and dishes used in the dining room

it takes the staff hours to set the table perfectly

The drawing room for the Royals where they can relax and play games

piano Princess Diana played

Officer’s lounges were quite nice and cozy. The rooms are full of gifts that have been given to the royals and pictures of the royals

There is a huge laundry, as you can imagine there is a lot of laundry, besides all the linen there are the uniforms for the crew and musical band
