Gingerbread house party part 2 (1988-1992)

1988

Dec 19 Attending: Elsie, Donna e, Christine, Eira, new comers-Suzanne, Joyce, Sue, and Maureen (9) the party was to become a tradition for Maureen who has been attending ever since. The party became more interesting as a friendly competition started between Christine and Maureen for most complex and interesting house, everyone enjoyed seeing what their houses would look like

1989

Dec 18 Attending: Elise, Christine, Donna E, Maureen, Marie, Joyce, Eira (8) there was a snowstorm slowed down all but the dedicated. Christine out did herself making a hot tub in the yard complete with blue icing for the water.

1990
Dec 10 Attending: Elsie, Christine, Donna E, Maureen, Eira and new comer-Jean and Shirley (9). This was the first party in our new house in Coldstream. The production of the houses is still chaotic, roofs and sides were getting mixed up and the count never seems to out even. After the party I figured out how to simplify things and I did not let them cut out the roof’s for the houses until they finished the ends and sides. This did not work either because the roof’s did not have enough time to cool and were collapsing.

The next day Dale, Ernest and Ches decorated houses.

1991
Dec 18 Attending: Elsie, Christine, Donna E, Maureen, Jean, Shirley, Vera new comers-Dianne, Maxine, Arlene, Margie Chan (12). Made 12 houses. This was not a good year because Loretta (my husband’s sister who was living with us was dying of cancer). This time we did all the roof’s first and then the sides and ends, this worked well except the count still did not come out exactly right

1992
Dec 17 Attending: Elsie, Christine, Donna E, Maureen, Joyce, Eira, and Shirley, new comer-Irene (9). Although Eira tried diligently to keep the count accurate it always seemed to be a little off, very tricky to count since people are continually adding new pieces and then keeping track of the pieces continually changing in the oven. I gave a house to Diane.
