York-Durham

Another warm sunny day and we took the train for 1 hour to Durham. We took a taxi to B & B Castle View Guest House. I called and still no luck with my lost luggage so we bought some more toiletries (Ches had his toiletries in my suitcase so were gone too). There is a beautiful view of the river from the Framwellgate, which is stone bridge built in the 12th century. We walked around the town, which was full of beautiful historic buildings, similar to York. There are narrow cobblestone streets (nice and historic but hard to walk on) and little vehicle traffic, since you can drive in free but it costs 5 pounds to exit. There are many interesting things for sale in the shops. We had lunch at a pub. There was a beautiful library with free wireless internet so we checked our emails. We enjoyed looking at all the interesting different foods at Marks & Spencer’s and bought some snacks to eat in the room for supper. We did not go into Durham’s Cathedral but could hear the bells from our room. There was a Dance Hall across the street from our room and it was very noisy at night.

the motorhomes are a lot smaller than ours (38 foot class A)
